Actual armor (gear)

Im gonna guess and say this has been posted before, but haven't seen no recent threads about it so thought i would ask it.
I have seen gameplay videos and such, but i still don't actually know. Is there real like "gear" in this game? Like gloves, boots, chest piece etc?

Shields have taken the place
Shields have taken the place of armor in the game. You can customize the color of your character's appearance, but that's pretty much it, I believe.

Cool, you can change the color of your armor.
I asked in a different thread if you could change the color of your armor.
So, I CAN be a Red Roland in a Red Rolland. lol (Just made up Rolland as a vehicle name)

Grenade mods sound sick like acidic shrapnel or stuning explosion. On another note i would be SO happy if there was actually armor, since i will be using mordecai it would give me the chance to make him look not as scronny. or imagine brick in a huge set of spiky armor
I have heard in rushed demos of the game, the developer mention gear though have never heard specifics.
