Welcome SwimmingBox

Nice find but I'm nearly certain a March 31st release date isn't happening. I think a while back--before some delays--that might have been a target date but the release has since been pushed back.

The only thing we do know for certain is that the publisher Take-Two says Borderlands comes out before October 31.

Dont

I wouldn discredit what swimmingbox has said in his post because you never know when a game will be coming out with out advertisement.  What im really saying here is all games dont do advertising for the public, just big titles like cod gears, pokemon, and so on so it may be a posability that gearbox just isnt advertising for the game.

Not gold = not being released.

The game hasn't even been declared to be gold yet. A 3/31 release date is highly improbable. It's coming out towards the end of FY09.

A: The game has already done

A: The game has already done advertizement, but it stopped.  It's logical to assume they aren't against advertizement.

B: Borderlands is a big title, it's also experimental, and it's not a sequel or spinoff of anything.  It falls into that "spore" area, where it needs to sell itself before release

C: We have quotes from PR people and the gearbox comunity leaders saying that when borderlands is ready to be shown off, it definately will be.  It's been made to sound like there are big plans

D: I can't think of any games in the last 2 years that didn't advertise at all on release.  At VERY least you had some gametrailer videos up and a few ign/gamespot reviews and what not.  I think we will, outright, see TV adds and stuff, but even if we don't, that other stuff is a given for all games.  Even indie titles advertizing on a 10$ budget submit a few videos, or a playable demo or something to gametrailers and other review sites.

E: Past gearbox titles have been well advertized.  Brothers in arms had TV adds if I recall correctly.  It still sold poorly because WWII is boring, but they tried.

Advertizing isn't just TV, the majority of the advertizment for these games these days is gaming events, internet adds, review sites, and gaming magazines.  The big boys might reach into TV and radio, but almost all games hit at least a few of those markets.

What SwiftSpear said

That's a comprehensive summary of why we shouldn't expect this game any time soon.

Very Comprehensive, and Accurate

Although the game is coming from a well known developer, the game itself is still a fledgling, it needs hype, it needs advertisement. Personally, I think that Gearbox might really showcase Borderlands at GDC. Its been almost a year since our last spurt of info on the game, they are past due and this is the perfect chance. Im also hoping for a demo by sometime this summer.
