Borderlands Shut Out At GDC Awards (And Why We Don't Care)
The 10th annual Game Developer Choice Awards were held last night in San Francisco and Borderlands came home empty-handed. We couldn't care less.
Firstly, Borderlands was nominated for "Best Visual Arts Award." The winner was Uncharted 2. There's no shame in losing to that looker.
Secondly, we're of the opinion that all industry awards are usually a giant advertisement. A bunch of folks in the same business get together, give each other shiny trophies, and then put a sticker about how they won on whatever they're selling to sell more of it.
Of course, if anybody ever wants to give us a Pulitzer (for our wonderful writing here) or Nobel (for our mods valiant efforts of keeping the peace on the forums), we might rethink this stance.
It's like what happened at Spike's Video Game Awards... Let's heap awards unto the crowned figure of Uncharted 2!
At least Giant Bomb gave Borderlands the "Biggest Ramp" award. In your face, UNCHARTED 2! HEYOOOOOO!
there should be a poll for what game is better borderlands or uncharted 2 and prove that borderlands is still better than uncharter 2 even though it got alot of awards!
2 completely different game, it's like comparing Mario to Grand Theft Auto...
between the two which one of those would be borderlands?
i pick mario lol
Both ;)

Borderlands is so new, we'll have to wait a little before it can won a stuff like this. But as you say I don't care, since it came out I just play this game :)
