One thing that i have always wondered about Borderlands is the control layout.  I have played a little of the Brothers in Arms games and i thought that the control layout was pretty decent and i think that it would be a good choice to use in some of Borderlands controls.  When i play the Call of Duty games though i feel more comfortable aiming down the sights with the RT button instead of pressing down the right control stick (for the xbox 360 players).  Does Gearbox usually use this kind of control style in all of thier shooting games or do they switch the controls around with their games.

Well...

I hear from a reliable source that the layout was similar to that of CoD: WaW.  How similar, I don't know.

Question,

I'm a computer gamer myself, So I'm used to readjusting to many different control setups, or just flat-out changing the key-layouts to what I like, so I could be wrong about this.

Can't you remap the controls on XBOX360 and PS3 controllers? I thought they usually gave some sort of menu or options for the such.

Remapping

Mostly yes, but it's the choice of the game developers. Remapping is an in-game option, so it has to be put in by the developers.

I just hope that for the PS3 version, they'll choose a standard lay-out of aim on L1, shooting on R1, altfire on R2 and grenades on Circle. The rest is of no real importance to me, although I really hope they won't use the L3 and R3 (for you PC gamers: that would be actually pressing the analog sticks...).

meow!!!

i dont want to soound like a halo fanboy butt i think that halo is the smothest layout for a fps I've played, but I have like other games that have a different zoom like hold LTor RT to zoom let go to unzoom, but the problem I had with that is that when sniping my hand got tired

Computer gamer I might be...

But I have a USB PS2 controller. Great for emulators and those games you just shouldn't do without one (Tetris, Ps2 emulator, DS emulator, and SNES emulator for me)
However, either EVERYTHING lets me remap my controls, or I have a program called Xpadder that lets me remap it (R3 = K  for instnace) So I'm used to my controls for anything being whatever I want.

This may be a bad idea to say but, I enjoy FPS's most on the computer. I've found Aiming to be such a pain on controllers (I've played a fair share of FPS's on XBOX360 and a few other consoles, including the Halo Games), where its very easy/natural on a mouse.
From a more technical view, mouses make a tad more sense. For Halo you have to keep holding or pressing the joystick in whatever direction to aim this way or that. For a mouse, you just move your hand as fast as you need to turn, and you can stop at any point very fast.

But besides FPS's and RTS's? Controllers or keyboard/mouse work equally well (Or controller better)

Yep

My thoughts exactly. Although i completely forgot about remapping the layout of the controls, as in other games like James Bond and Halo.  Thanks for the reminder!

Fallout 3

One great thing about Fallout 3 was that you could map anything to any button, it was like gold for a console game.

Really?

I didn't even notice it.  I really liked the controls as they were.

@TheUzi

WTF? the control setup you've exposed to us is completely fucked up. What game used it 'cause I have a PS3 and I've never seen such control layout.
