Controversy?
Maybe its just me, but don't you see some over protective parents/news teams flipping out about the whole shotting himself in the head thing on the new cover? Regardless of if it is saying what he's going to do to you the media don't seem to care. Mass Effect for example. The media said it was full frontal nudity and you could control the sex and stuff, but you couldn't. What do you think will happen?
You know what that means? It means most kids won't be able to get this game because of their parents. Now the idea of playing 4-player co-op with hardly any children's voices sounds like a step in the right direction to me. Especially if they shouldn't be playing it in the first place.
Thats a very good point. I love those kids in call of duty 4.
Borderlands cover makes light of Suicide!
The front cover of Borderlands shows a distastful picture of a man commiting suicide as crude attempt at "humor". Furthermore inside the game, such atrocities happen such as cruelty to animal life (Like harvesting fish with explosives such as grenade) and running over people with vehicles. This shows the evident moral decay that many game's like these bring to our homes and living rooms.
(P.S. In case some idiot out there thinks I'm serious, this was written purely as a piece of satirical work on over-reactive media.)
Nicely done man! I have to agree, that having just one FPS where there were't a bunch of 9 yr. old sailors would be nice ^_^
Conspiracy Theory:
Maybe all these media fiasco's are actually hard-core gamers who thought "hey maybe if we make a big enough fuss about these games, we'll get the younger-crowd taken away?"
Ingenius.... But not plausible. Most games I can think off of the top of my head (Oblivion, GTA San Andreas, Mass Effect) Were all singleplayer. so...crap.
I'm with Lambo on this one. Parents often ignore or don't understand the sheer simplicty of the ESRB rating system. This is something they can plainly see might be inappropriate for their snot-nosed little brats and will probably end up not buying it for them. The less annoying little kids playing this game online, the better.
If the game gets bigger, it might very well cause some controversy. You know how the media likes to kick up a shit storm over petty little things, especially when it comes to video games. Shadow's little satirical piece might not be so far from the truth.
I liked the news-flash. Lol
I personally love a good old controversy. : )
Likewise, always a big fan of satire.
If it does cause a stir, at least it would be only the cover they have to change, and not delay the game as so to remove/alter parts (such as Manhunt 2).
Still, I find the cover funny. Besides, does the gun to the head also refer to going to kill someone else in addition to suicide?

Mass Effect was a lot more high-profile game i think; mainly because Microsoft was the publisher it garnered more attention than most games. Overall i dont see a reason for people to get upset about the cover. Now if it showed a gun, then i could understand it. But as it is i dont think it should be a problem.
....then again the media is full of mostly over-zealous idiots...so i could be wrong.
