Does Borderlands Have Speedloaders?
Thanks to OneKillWonder for pointing this out. The new Borderlands screenshot appears to show a speedloader.
In most cases, a speedloader is device that allows the simultaneous loading of all chambers of a revolver. There are also some speedloaders for rifles and shotguns.
Take a look at the device in the Borderlands screenshot above the grenade. It appears to be a circular gadget holding a number of rounds, as a resolver speedloader would. (An actual one is pictured to the right.)
I think this would be an welcome concept for the game. It seems to me that even though there’s a lotta guns in Borderlands, most of us are probably going to find favorites that we consistently use. Devices that would improve our favorites guns would heighten the pleasure of the loot hunt.
Just like the the guy doing the demo found "Assault Rifle Ammo", this is probably just "Revolver Ammo".
It's just revolver ammo. It will be interesting to see if the different types of abstract revolvers have different ammo loads however. The shotgun revolver, rifle revolvers and what not.
i could see a shotgun with a revolving chamber have to be reloaded by hand.
1- the speed loader would be fuggin huge and
2- a speed loaded shotgun would have a reload of like .2 seconds.
...that its just how bullets look in the game world. Back to the drawing board for my crazy speculations.
It could just be a really wierd grenade?
For those that can't pick which shade they want?
Over a million procedurally generated shades confirmed!
There's a video on 1up of gameplay with a player using a shotgun with 6 or 7-chambers like a revolver and he reloads it with a massive speedloader.
Well then that would simply mean that the reload animation is strictly based on what kind of loading mechanism the gun has. They would have 1 animation for each loading mechanism and for each type of gun.

there is a strong similarity but i would guess that that is simply the way that the magnum bullets look when they are in the world. In the E3 08 demo vid you can see roland look a Assault rifle magazine and it's just labeled "assault rifle bullets" or something like that.
EDIT: rewatched the E3 08 footage with the revolver chambered sniper rifle. It seems as though both theories are right. He uses a speed loader the reload the rifle but i would still go with that that is how certain bullet groups look in the world.
