Dual-Wielding Guns?
I was skimming through the pictures for the dozenth time and was looking at this when a thought struck me.

In Diablo II the barbarian was so strong he was able to wield a sword in each hand. And as is obvious, brick is holding a rocket launcher with ONE hand in that photo. What are the odds that we may be using dual weaponry, and maybe getting dual rockets with brick? =)
Originally I was going to flat-out pick Mordecai or Roland, (I enjoy sniping, and medic shooting would be fun as heck) But if Brick has dual-wielding ability on the big-guns, then I'll probably end up playing HIM too.
I can only hope!
Im with you there Shirow, initially the only appealing character to me was Mordecai, I love sniping, taking out a whole camp before they realize what just happened is immensely fun to me. However, the more I hear about Rolands medic and turret abilities, Liliths time magic, or Bricks potential with all his strength........Im still debating my character choice, and I really dont think I will fully decide until I'm at the Borderlands game start up menu.
It's good to hear they put enough into all the characters to make them all desirable. Let's hope they didn't do it too perfect or I'll be stuck in indecisiveness for ages ^.^
Also, Imagine Mordecari with dual sniper rifles. LOL.
I was just thinking however, how would you make it possible to DW guns and still make them fully functional? To make them useable in the DW sense, you would have to make them fire seperately or together correctly. If they did it seperately (for all intents and purposes lets say that Borderlands uses COD 4 mechanics and has left and right trigger for 360 and L2 and R2 for PS3 are your aiming and firing buttons), then your aiming would be replaced by ur 2nd weapon, disabling your aiming. On the flip side, they can change it to make one trigger fire both weapons and make the aiming center the weapons a little and tighten the cross hairs.
Im just thinking outloud though. Point is, to make the dual weild thing work, they would have to compramise the gun mechanics in some way. The greatest casualty seems to be the aiming, either way, the scopes would be taken away to accommodate.
Picturing him laying on the top of a cliff, with a sniper scope up to each of his eyes. Too funny
Imagine if he had to focus each eye on 2 split targets.
That's practically straight out of a comic-book. Very Epic.
sorry for the old bump but this was the best duel wield thread I could find, still havnet found a solid answer on it.
another hellgate references, but hellgate had duel wielding and it worked great. it had two target reticles, one orange (primary weapon) and 1 yellow (off hand) they would both center in the middle of the screen and "spread" the more you fired, if you had a machine pistol in one hand and a slow firing pistol in the other, the one reticle would spread much faster than the other. Course there was no looking down the sights aiming in that game, i'm sure they would figure out a way to work it. Or when you "aim" you can only use your primary weapon. lets face it, double fisting pistols isnt done for accuracy, its done for throwing as many bullets down range at the enemy as possible, when you need that precise shot either switch weapons or bring one weapon up to eye level.
Dual Wielding does sound like a very nice system to add to Borderlands. From what I have seen personally, there have no hints of dual wielding. This is only what I have seen in videos and pictures of course. I do hope they decide to add in dual wielding for at least small guns, my favorite form of combat is to rush in with 2 guns blazing =D
oh and Sradac you have no idea how happy I am to see another person who both played and enjoyed Hellgate! It seems to be the only game that is at all comparable to Borderlands. I hope it will be a similar game experience and just as replayable (been playing Hellgate for the past 2 weeks while I wait for Borderlands)

That is very possible, at this point in the game, we shouldnt completely rule anything out unles it is outright denied in an interview. Dual wielding small weaponry such as pistols and SMG's may be available for all classes, but it would be more likely that through upgrades Brick would have the ability to wield a couple of assault rifles, shotguns, or as you stated, projectile explosives such as rocket launchers.
