I just witnessed something that both amused me and amazed me as to the complete retardedness of 90% of todays gamers. I just so happened to be watching a preview video of Assassins Creed 2 on Youtube and one dude left a comment saying:
"This or MW2... I can't decide!!!"
I decided to reply to his comment with:
"Get neither and buy borderlands, it's pretty much going to ooze awesomeness."
In hindsight, knowing the mindset of a gamer with his heart set on a game, it was probably a poor decision. But anyway this is the reply I got back (Among others that contained many profanities thrown loosely in my direction):
"Borderlands? I heard about that months ago. Looks terrible. Nothing special about it. Both assassins creed and MW2 have something unique about it but Borderlands look retarded."
Now you would think that the messages calling me an asshole and a cu*t would have tickled my anger gland more than this one but no, this message bothered me the most by far. The fact that this lovely chap can quite sincerely state that Borderlands has "nothing special about it" and that AC2 and MW2 are both "something unique" drives me fucking wild. MW2 is probably going to be a hoot but as for unique? It's been done a thousand fucking times minus the probably quite spiffy, newish graphics engine. Assassins Creed 2 definitely has a "unique", original vibe to it and will be fun, but once again, it's a fucking sequel! Assassins Creed 1 already did it!!!!! Go play in traffic asswipe.
What bothers me the most is the fact that most gamers these days cannot seem to see the complete beauty and originality of a game like Borderlands even when it is laid out before them. So many aspects of various games that gamers for years have wanted incorporated into a single title are finally brought to fruition, and people have the nerve to call it retarded and "nothing special". And don't even get me started on people hassling the graphics.
I hope that guy gets raped by a mule.

Great post, and I agree 100%. Most of today's gamers are completely spoiled and jaded, or are only into what the flavor of the week is, rather than what has actual substance. Because of this, the games that really deserve the attention, like Borderlands, get largely ignored. People's ignorance on this issue really gets to me. I know it shouldn't but it does. People just piss me the fuck off with their stupidity.

indeed people are retarded i mean i intend on getting both games MW2 for the competitive and assasins creed just well cause its pretty bad ass but borderlands far more on my list for games i mean i can see myself playing it for a long long time assasins creed i will prob play once maybe twice and mw2 just when i need a break from borderlands and wanna talk some smack

Im sure if someone made a comment on a borderland vid to get a diff game, they would get a similar response. It all depends on a person's prefernce in games, and the person aswell. Some people just dont like games like like borderlands, along with other games (honestly i didnt really like the first assassin's creed) Everyone has an opinion, and he obviously dosnt know anything about the game, whereas you obviously do. I for one thought this game was going to be a dive till i actually looked into it, and iv changed my mind but i guess the real test will be when im playing it.
Some people value graphics and "the new thing" apeal about games more than anything, and yes it grinds my gears to hear someone rag or diss a really good game when they rave about overhyped games that i deam just terrable because of gameplay issues and lack of skill curve for example. But its thier loss and i tend to just leave it at that. You really shouldnt take that personal and get mad, thats probbly why he said it. Take it for what its worth, i honestly dont care if he dosnt play, he would probbly just wine and suck at this game.

ive never meet one of the "youtube fanboys" on COD4 everyone you talk to in game will tell you how much they hate the game and only play it cuz theres nothing better. you tell em to check out another game and give some good reasons as to why it will be good and youve probley scored another person a bus ride to fyrestone....lol i just watched the intro and thought it would be appropriate.
