1st opinion (3 hours in)

Well now this is a thing to behold, a final fantasy on the current gen of consoles, ive been waiting since ffx-2 for this. Or so i thought, final fantasy will always hold a dear place in my heart but from all the bad and off putting reviews (well 8.4 or something on game stat) i was preping for the worst case senario, ps2 graphics, slow battles, and a loss of what makes final fantasy so good namely the story.

Luckily for SQUARE all of those bad reviews from more FPS liking gamers where a load of tosh, there was so much talk of liniarity they made it sound like it was a big long stick, and all you did was walk down it, well that simply isn't true, it isnt the same level of freedom as in tales of vesparia, or lost odyssey but then final fantasy has always been for me about getting to the story and what better way to do this then to offer a single (thus far) path to choose i dont mean like the stick i mentioned above, ffxiii has rooms with open spaces and multiple paths with usually chests at the end, but it is always clear which general direction to go in.

Now that that boring rantings out of the way i come to the look of the game, stunning, fabulous, beautiful, it is to say the least the game with the best cut-scene and CG scene's thus far in this gen. (period)

Gameplay wise the fights are alittle slow at 1st with only 2 actions to choose from (apart from the auto battle button which i have sworn to never use) attack or a slightly stronger attack, but as the game has gone on 3 hours in im still getting little messages about battle stratagy and new features of battle, the combat has become a deep and fast paced system worthy of being in a final fantasy game.

As for the over all feel of the game it is still the good old (but now super shiny) final fantasy ive been waiting for.

i will update when im about 10 or so hours in with more.

The graphics are amazing. My

The graphics are amazing. My brother and I (we both play final fantasy) say, at the beggining, it is pretty much FF7 with a little from the other games thrown in and new characters. Not that that is a complaint, just a joke between us. The battle system is fast paced yet easy to handle. Also, all FF games are linear to a certain extent.
