Maurice Goes To Gearbox

I won a spot to play the game tomorrow by posting a comment on Shacknews. Got my confirmation email/phone call from Steve Gibson today. He said I'll get maybe 1-2 hours of play, depending on the how the press is doing, the gaming press will be there all day trying it out.
He said they are very close to gold, or something about being very close to being certified by Microsoft. The first part of the demo will be playing the beginning of the game with a low level character(single player). Then he said that they will boost the character levels up so I can see some "cool explosions and shit". He didn't make it clear if I'll get any multiplayer time.
The play day is at the Gearbox office in Plano TX, just a bit north of Dallas. I have to drive from Austin to Plano tomorrow, like 3-4 hour drive, to be able to play.
I really hope I get time to talk to the Gearbox staff, I'd like to ask them how it is working there and what got them into designing games.
How long a drive would you take to play Borderlands for 1-2 hours? For me it will be about 8 hours round trip. Seems worth it.

Sadly he won't be able to disclose any information about his experience. He'll be required to sign a form stating he faces legal action if he does. But hopefully they can atleast answer the steam question you asked about.

Actually they said there was a good chance that the people chosen to go play tomorrow might not have to sign the agreement, therefore allowing them to share their experience. I'm not sure if they made a decision on that yet, however.

I live in Vegas and going to Texas would be like a 2 day trip and I would so do it for Borderlands.

I'm with you on the time. Unfortunately, It'd take me like 10 or 12 one way. Ask if they'll release the game onto STEAM if you get the chance. And tell us how you like it! Have fun!!!
