How Dare They
Remember our tongue-in-cheek fanboy rage when the Borderlands Wikipedia page was briefly defaced? I think we might need to resurrect it for a glaring oversight from a gaming site called Gamer Discord. Their post on the "5 Most Anticipated Multiplatform Shooters of 2009" is mostly a good read except for one major problem: they neglected to mention Borderlands. Tsk-tsk.
Borderlandsism! Immediate boycott!
It isn't anticipated at all. Besides the like 100 of us on this board. It should be on the "5 best looking shooters of 09".
Most of the review sites seem to be shying away form talking about BL. I think they may not be sure weather it's going to hit 2009 or not. IGN made a mention in thier "games we're looking forward to for 09" article, but they were the only one I found.
I think Swiftspeak nailed it on the head in his first post. It's really hard for the first game in a franchise to be highly anticipated. It's no coincidence that all the games on that Top 5 list are all sequels in one form or another.
Sequel = built-in fan base.
First I would like to say hello. Ok on to topic.
I could easily understand how this game has not gained most anticapated game of '09. I've been anticapating this game right before I left for basic training back in October of 2007. I groaned at having to wait until Sept 08 for a release. Now I check everyday to see if there have been any updates. I check IGN, Gearbox Studios site, I check this site. (Just haven't had the gumption to create an account until now kid and work I'm usually pretty tired) So I could understand how this game has missed a most anticapted list. At the moment it's the christmas that hasn't come. Then I hear Q4 this year, and I don't really plan on holding my breath for that one either. If it comes then I will be pleasently, pleasently suprised, but if it doesn't it will be just another expected delay.
Now don't get me wrong. I would much rather have them hash out major issues, and large bugs, refine graphis, add more depth, than release a game that's going to make me put it down after about five minutes of play. If they've got problems fix them, by all means. But man I would love it if they would just release the game. Till then I'll just be hoping and no matter what any list says, it's number one on my most anticapated list for whenever it launchs.
Well said. I think you echo the sentiments of a lot of people on this site. We're eager for the game but only want it when it's ready.
I hereby declare that we should establish the Holy Church of Borderlandism, dedicated to the worship of, and dedicated fanboyism towards, Gearbox Software's most heavenly relic. Come my brothers, and we shall spread the word of the Vault, and of Pandora, and of the 87 Bazillion Artefacts of epic pwnage. Join me on a crusade in the name of Loot. Spread the word, friends, and on October 20 (or 23rd if you, like myself, are stuck in sucky England), we shall be given the divine gift that is rightfully ours.
Woah crap, sorry, didn't realise how much of a bump this was. I'm such a douchetard.

Borderlands isn't highly anticipated. It's not a sequal, and people, if they even know about it yet, are waiting to see how it reviews and what the fans say.
