How many characters? How many guns? Switching characters?

1. How many characters can you create?  Mostly out of curiosity, though I figure you can make as many as you want.

2. How many guns can you carry and readily switch around while playing?  Will it be like the old shooters of yore wherein you could end up collecting up to 10 weapons?  Or will it be like more modern shooters, where you're limited to a melee weapon, main weapon and sidearm, like in Team Fortress 2 or Counter-Strike?  Given the variety of guns in the game, you could end up wanting to have different weapons readily available rather than being limited.  For example, you might want a lightning-damage gun for shield-busting, a sniping rifle to take out distant targets, a scattergun or automatic for crowds of mobs, and a high-damage, high RoF "burst damage" gun for bosses.  Throw in your melee weapon, and that's 5 weapons right there, just like in the old days of Doom or the 1st Unreal Tournament.

3. Can you do the following?  You are playing co-op and are having a tough time with this particular quest/boss/etc.  You and your teammates agree that someone has to switch to a different class in order to succeed.  Given the game's "drop in, drop out" co-op, can a player readily drop out, switch to a different character (with a different class), then drop back in?  Or are there obstacles or limits to doing that?

Thank you!

1. i assume that you can create as many characters you want, but you might not be doing that depending on how big the game is, which is huge by the way.

2. at the start you can carry i think 12 items in your backpack, and can quikly switch out 4 weapons with the D-pad, but i dont know if the d-pad switch weapons are included in your backpack. and melee is a diffrent button its the melee button which uses the sword, knife, palm of hand, or big pole, depending on which character you are, but if you find a gun with a blade on it that does more damage than your melee you use that if that gun is out when you melee.

3  i think the way it works is that you have your character, and they have theirs, if you want to switch characters, you have to quit out make a new character, or switch to a diffrent profile, and then jump back in with his game.  but i dont know for sure.

1) You can choose one out of

1) You can choose one out of 4 classes, each you can customize the color of their appearance and their skills within the skill tree during the game.

2) You start out with a backpack that can hold up to 12 items. You can equip up to four weapons on the D-pad. I'm not sure how you can expand the size of your backpack. Something about "saving Clap Traps" or somewhere along the lines of that.

There won't be melee weapon drops in the game. Each character has their own main melee attack, probably triggered by clicking the right analog stick. If there's a blade on something on your gun that can be used for a melee attack, you'll use that.

3) I'm not sure of this, but if you're gonna have trouble with a boss, you can drop out, switch class, and drop back into the game. Though keep in mind that your level and gear will stay with the class you were playing.

Like if I was a level 20 Roland and I felt like switching, I'd choose a level 15 Brick I was working on sometime earlier.

Gamespot just answered #2

Gamespot just answered #2 :-).  You start out with 2 ready weapon slots, but will eventually have a max of 4.  It's mentioned near the end of the video.

thanks

for that link but, i pretty sure everyone already knew, cuz in some of the gameplay vids we've seen they have, the pull up the inventory, and you can see they have two weapons in the d-pad thing, and the other two are locked.

if you're the "host" i dont

if you're the "host" i dont think you can drop in/out.  In co-op other players join your game, and when they leave it says they've "abondoned your cause" or whatever, I think if the host leaves that whole world ends, but other players should be able to.
