How We'll Get The Release Date
Newsworthy because there's so little news right now. Gearbox community manager Ennui posted how we'll get the release date for Borderlands.
When a final date is known, a press release will go out, and we'll mirror that message on our sites. Until you see that release, everything else is probably an estimate. And don't worry, you'll see more stuff from Borderlands - you've been really patient, but you need to hold on just a little bit more for us. Trust me, when we start talking again it's going to be big.
I would guess Gearbox has a very good idea of their target release date. No point in publishing it now though, possibly missing the date, and earning the game a Vaporware tag.
well at least we know it will be this year, instead of the disappointment lat year =/ that's good though it will be perfect when they release it :)
I'm just glad new things are being said about Borderlands. I mean being shut in the dark for so long with no new info or word. Let's just hope that soon for them doesn't mean the same thing that the offical Borderlands site means. Cause then we won't be getting word for quite sometime.
Out of curiousity, I went back through the Borderlands Guide front page posts to see the last time we got new info about the game directly from Gearbox. It was November when they talked some about the Borderlands multiplayer, splitscreen, and sountrack.
I was told we can expect another batch of information in 3 to 5 weeks. Whether that will actually happen, we'll see.
Four months + 3-5 weeks = soon? I must keep this definition of "soon" memorized for future reference.
Sounds about right. Remember, this is a company that's worked at reasonable lenght with valve.
Am I alone in this?
Do you get on BorderlandsGuide.com, Gearbox.com, and various other game news sites everyday hoping for a spare scrap from the Gearbox table only to be denied?
I have checked everyday for new stuff since the GI article. Its getting ridiculous.
Ok, rant over......... Let the pity party commence!
BG, I remember you saying a while back that you had contacted Gearbox and told them about this site. Pardon me if I have missed something, but did they ever get back to you? And if so would we be able to get any sort of exclusive info or interview outta them? Again, Im sure that this has been addressed, but for the life of me I can't remember which thread it was.
Yes, they did get back to me. I asked for interviews, screenshots, or any spare bit of info they could offer. They politely told me we will get all that, just not yet. According to the person I spoke to, they're furiously working to get the game ready right now and we can expect some more info in 3 to 5 weeks.
When they do start talking again, I'm hoping to round up a bunch of questions from everybody on the site and pass them along.
Sounds like fun.

She also reiterated the fact that we've been patient and we wont have too wait much longer.
So let me get this straight, she said they would release stuff "soon" in January of this year. And then 3 months later says "soon" again? Botman's definition of "soon" aside that is just plain old irritating.
Soon, as defined by Princeton Univeristy:
Adverb
S: (adv) soon, shortly, presently, before long (in the near future)
Well Im sure we can all have a big ole belly laugh at this in three months when I feel the need to define "In the Near Future".
