The Inverted "V"
In a little exerpt from the PC Gamer magazine, they mention a company called "Atlas Corp." that first found the alien technology. Brick has a ring with the same insignia as on the vault. My thinking that the "V" is actually Atlas Corps logo. And if thats true, why would they have built the vault? If they are a company out to make money, why would they lock away technology that supposedly made them rich?
Good observation. I don't think I can comment on this yet, but I'll think about it.
Good observation. I had guessed that that the Borderlands symbol actually represented the vault (it's kind of shaped like an inverted "v") but it could certainly be the Atlas Corp logo. Can't have a good sci-fi story without an evil mega-corp.
Well, my thinking was that Roland is an ex-member of the Crimson Lance, a group that is still on the planet. The Crimson Lance was a form of bounty division for Atlas Corp, If Pandora was barren and fortunless, why keep any one posted there? The company has to be involved with the vault in some way, and I really doubt that this company is benign.
I think the inverted v is just an alien symbol.
If Atlas built the vault to contain the alien tech it's pretty simple. It's the same way the diamond market is regulated - release only a limited number at a time to keep prices at an absolute premium.
Yeah, that's what I was thinking.
The logo could be added by Atlas, or the whole door could be Human-made. They also could have adopted that logo because it was on the vault. Are any of those ruled out yet?
I think you guys are all missing the point.
Atlas Corp was founded when they found the initial broken Alien technology, its after they found that and it was reversed engineered that they became a MegaCorp. I dont think it would be much a stretch to say that Atlas Corp just took on the Alien symbol seeing as how they were the ones that discovered it first. Its great marketing having your very symbol be what made you famous and powerful.
Remember that everyone is still looking for the Vault, otherwise the plant would be innundated with millions of people trying to get their share of the tech, no one wants to be on Pandora, so Im assuming no one has found the vault.
Kind of like if Linsday Lohan had like cocaine and a vodka bottle crossing each other, know what I mean??
JohnnyMac, just putting it out there man, that was awesome, your my hero.
Haha Ive always found my points get across better with a Linsday Lohan joke.
Ba-zing!

Perhaps they are attempting to reverse engineer the alien tech so that they could eventually either sell more or attempt to take over the galaxy, depending on how evil they are. That, or the company has been subverted by the very aliens that made the weapons and they are going to try to take over. The "Vault" could merely be the entrance to the secret lab or base.
