The Loot System
How is loot going to be distributed in this game? Is it going to be whoever picks it up first, like Diablo II? Or will there be unique drops for each person, and drops that are for other people will be invisble to the player?
The other system I've seen in a much less played game (Too Human), shows the drops for everyone and then splits it up for each player, but it was always annoying to see an Epic item drop and zoom over to the guy next to me instead of landing in my inventory, haha..
Opinions?
EDIT: And just a side note, hopefully the community is good enough to be able to give drops to the people that need them in the game if it's unique player-to-player like Too Human.. The one thing I loved about that game was if a sword dropped for someone who used primarily ranged weapons, then they'd usually give the sword to the other person in the lobby if it was useful.
Hopefully this community can be just as generous and mature. I don't wanna see the best sniper rifle in the game drop and go to Brick when I'm sitting there as Mordecai going "WHAT THE F***?"
That makes sense. I guess rushing will happen in this game too, just like Diablo. I like the idea of unique drops, but that stresses the "Be nice and share" aspect of the community further. It'll be a big turn off if I'm forced to trade my ass off for every little thing I need from the other guys in the party.
I dont think that the weapons are leveled at all actually. From what we saw the characters just level up in proficiancy for a weapon type, making them better with that weapon. My theory is that instead of having a huge range of weapon effectivness that is filled with guns that go up in goodness as your level increases, i think that all guns are somewhat close together and most are good at one thing while having a achilles heel in something like their reload time. Therefore, if im correct, most of the guns in the game are available to drop from the get go but if a guy who has been playing for a while the same gun that is so-so for a noob is pretty good for him.
Granted there might be some that unlock later in the game but i think it will happen in "sets". Meaning that the guns that the raiders might use are more common in the beginning. Once you meet the Crimson Lance mercs then a more militaristic set adds in and again when the aliens show up. Again its all theory.
True, but if the good weapons are there from the start, how easy is it for a level one to end up with a 70 damage Dahl Sniper in his first Skag pup kill? >.<
However I'm not as concerned with actual drops, I'm just wondering how it will be distributed. This doesn't really apply to single player, only online play.
about the drop system. hope fully there will be a way to evenly distribute the guns.
or...you can jus play with friends you trust who wont cheat you out of the best guns
It didn't appear so from the videos, Chono... But it's possible.
And the loot DID explode, but the question is, could only the player playing Roland see the loot, or could Mordecai see the loot too? Did Mordecai see his OWN loot?
As far as I know, no targets that Mordecai killed had loot for Roland.
Hopefully it won't go by killing blow though, hopefully it goes by whoever does the most damage, because if that's the case.. Mordecai wins.. :P
i cant even see the video :(

Better Noks?
oh that one? lol. i thot u guys found a new vid.

I don't remember seeing anything definitive but unique drops for each person seems like a strong possibility.
You can play co-op with a friend who has a character with a much higher or lower level. Common sense would indicate that the two characters with very different levels should receive very different drops. A noob shouldn't receive one of the best guns in the game. A vet will get bored if he keeps getting water pistols.
