LVL 50 CHARACTER DELETED AFTER GAME FROZE

i was joining a game online and it froze while in the loading screen. im quite sure it was not my ps3 as it has never froze previousely. after restarting console, i went into single player and went to "existing character" but all that was there was a lvl1 roland?!?!
i have never even picked roland once and had only ever used the brick that was lvl 50.
im really disappointed with this happening and wish that the game creators ironed out all the kinks before they released the game. i had alot of good items too.....
is there any way for me to retrieve my lost character?? cos im shattered.......

too many hours went into that character......
before the game froze i joined a game and there was a lvl 1377 moredocai in it who i think was power lvl'ing the other characters in the game, and i grew 3 lvls. i heard that gearbox delets your character if they think you are hacking.... maybe they thought i was hacking cos i was in a game with a lvl 1377???
anyways i gotta get over it....
is it really worth starting over??? who do you recommend if i was to??? i need the fellow borderlanders support... cos im seriousely contemplating trading it in....

Hey dude i know where your coming from!!!!
ok this is what happened to me.... I just finished beating the game for the 2nd time as a soldier( so i was level 50) and i was fully geared with a shotgun that hit 200 *12 . Anyway i was finishing up missions and i had to go to work so i saved and went on my way. when i came back and got on i started playing on single player it asked me to select my charactor (like normal) then i go down to where my level 50 should be, and it says CORRUPTED and iam in aww I was speach less so i click it thinking it might be a mistake. But as i did it says plane and simple "your charactor was corrupted and deleted"....... I sat there not knowing what to think
I went over and thought maybe i did something and i have never had a mod gun or ever modded before. I made sure not to delete my charactors and i just didnt know what to think...... please commet
ps.. just joined and i had 9999999 dollers on that 50 too :(

First off, I'm really sorry you lost your guy, that is pretty damn crappy 8( . But you should think about this. In what other game can you shoot a screaming midget with a hockey mask running at you while pulling a grenade out of his butt? I might be able to name one other but that is most likely the dream I have at night and not a real game.
If you start over and try another character I am sure you will find yourself enjoying it all over again. After finishing the game with every class I found that just farming weapons and killing zombies is still one hell of a good time. Anytime that I need to unwind after a long day I can't think of many things better then gunning down a few baddies in Borderlands. Like Pokemaughan said, "take a little break" come back after a bit and I am sure you will find the game is just as fun as it was the first time you killed that little midget bastard with a deathwish.

Got the same problem.. my 50's gone. After several Freezelaggs where i had to reboot my ps3 my Soldier finally decided to disappear. this game very good, but not in many ways.. THE BUGGS ARE FUCKING OVERWHELMING, graphic bugg's, loading bugg's, weapon and dupe hack's, characters dissapearing, the framerate is shit ( atleast on ps3 ), i dont know.. its just because im a levling freak i still have the game in my posession! if i where normal i would take the game break it in half then visit the developer with a chainsaw =P.

Use willowtree...
You can quickly 'adjust' a Lvl 1 character right up to Lvl 50 if you have lost your file due to corruption. I don't think you would be losing any gamer credibility if you do this. As you can imagine this happened to me courtesy of going online. When you game online you risk your save file. I would suggest making backups of your save file using a memory stick, and by all means do this often.
I know how long it takes to build proficiencies and really iron out a character in this game, and losing all the work in such a way can be very disheartening. Don't fret, you can adjust your proficiencies to whatever they were before, and I believe no one can call you out as a cheater for doing so.
If you are a true gamer, you will not use the tool to your advantage to create an unbalanced character with an illegal number of skill points, 50+ levels or give yourself +50 on all proficiencies when you haven't earned them. This is VERY easy to do with Willowtree. I always religiously kick anyone who is Lvl 50+ out of my game because they have no business being there with their unbalanced hacked characters. Hacked weapons are also very easy to spot - VERY easy. Once you get an idea of what goes around in the game you know that the machine gun that somehow never needs to be reloaded and sounds like its firing 20+ ROF and shooting every kind of elemental under the sun - is hacked. Only the Chimera revolvers can shoot multiple elemental types - for example.
Willowtree can also be used to rebuild some of your lost items which would otherwise be very difficult to come by. Again use your own best judgment and don't wreck your own game as Willowtree is very powerful and use with your discretion! (This same tool is used by modders to create unbalanced guns/items as well)
