Does anyone else notice the fact that Borederlands is being released right smack in the middle of Halo 3: ODST, and Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2? How is it expected that this game will have a reason to exist after both of these multiplayer beasts?

im glad that gearbox didnt move to 2010 like a scared bunch of panzys like the other games did, and the fact that they stayed while the other games left will make them more money because its in the holiday season.

In the midst of a lot of

In the midst of a lot of competition between similar products, the trick is to bring something different and get noticed.

Innovative FPS/RPG hybrid gameplay?  Check.

Extremely varied gear players can use (87 bazillion guns)?  Check.

Art style that's different from everything else (or at least tried only once or a few time before)?  Check.

With art style, being lighter in tone and having humor?  Check.

Gearbox and 2K are taking a gamble, but it's a smart gamble.  Props also to their art team for transforming Borderlands into the cell-shaded game we have now, making it stand out and unique in a sea of quality shooters.

I don't think ODST is much of

I don't think ODST is much of a factor since it's already out.  And while I'm sure MW2 will be great, the story is only worth playing once and than you go to the MP or move on.

If Borderlands didn't have the RPG side than I'd be worried but since it does, it rewards you to keep playing.  And like WoW, you might think you'll just have one toon but you'll eventually end up with all four toons and maybe even more!  So I think with great reviews and even better word of mouth, Borderlands will enjoy good sales for a long time.

Thou, I see it fighting for top spot for Oct sales with Forza 3 and Brutal Legend.
