There is a well of info in that little vid since we also get to see a brief glimps of some of the menus (stat page, overhead map, quest log, inventory list). Maybe someone can pick this apart for us in the near future.

what i thought was really interesting though was that he picked up a "shock crystal" that might be what gives weapons their effects

I think the shock crystals
I think the shock crystals are quest items for the quest he has. Check out the right side of the screen, it says he has 4 crystals out of 50 in the first video, and 9 out of 50 (10 after he picks up the shock crystal) in the video link you posted.

my ps3 is awesome
i downloaded the video to my ps3 and examined it upscaled and with maximum video noise reduction with that i have some info. first, that shotgun holds 6 shells in the same way a revolver does also it's made by dahl who seem to specialise in heavy weapons. second the local map is even less detailed than in fallout 3 but easier to read. third there are three rows of armor in the menu ( head armor, body armor, shield? ) any thoughts?

those aren't three rows of armor that was the skill tree. thus the menu goes: CHARACTER,MAP,?,SKILLS,INVENTORY
