Plateau at 50?

This isn't a complaint, the game is fantastic.  Looking for advice.

Solo leveled my soldier to 50 and seem to have hit a plateau

*  My cash is all 9s and I no longer get charged for buying nor make money from selling or picking up cash.  It's like it's stuck on nines.  Is it continuing to calculate but just not show the results or is picking up weapons and cash now a waste of time?

*  I've only found about 4 orange weapons and only kept one (volcano). These all came at the start of the second playthrough; I haven't found another in about 6 levels and a dozen or more missions. Is that usual or exceptional.  I'm even still using a green as my main combat rifle, 1 orange, 2 violet.  [I have one slot each for a shotgun, crifle, sniper, and smg; sometimes I sub in a rocket].

I'm a little suprised I haven't found more orange.  I've also only found 3-4 Eridian, again none in multiple levels/missions.  None were worth keeping except I kept one to occasionally use to try and up proficiency.

*  In short the only real "gain reward" I've had during most of the second playthrough has been to level proficiency  -- no great new guns, maxed cash, and level capped.

Is it time to move on to another player, go online, or buy the zombie thing?  Or am I just doing something wrong.  BTW the missions are getting pretty easy.

Well, as for your cash, the

Well, as for your cash, the game DOES keep track of your total cash amount, even if you can't see it. So it doesn't max out your bank at 9,999,999 only the counter. I figure I have about 80 mil since my last New-U use cost me around 7.9 million after I rezzed. And yes, my money stayed at 9,999,999.

You should farm New Haven in Playthrough 2 for Oranges. It's easier to get them there in single player than almost any other place. Actual Orange weapon drops off enemies are EXCEEDINGLY RARE unless you're lucky or teamed up with other people who have the +X to Team Rare Item Find. So plaing with others = More & Better loot.

Second playthrough is a good place to get better weaponry. High level rares are downright awesome and you can farm New Haven for them, and then do some Crimson Fastness grinding, which has at least 4 Red item chests which tend to pack PHAT LEWTS. I know I got a purple sub machine gun there that would sell back for almost 1 mil. Plus, the badass Crimson tend to pack better than normal weaponry. And Old Haven farming turns into a game of cat and mouse while farming lewt there, since Lvl 50 Crimson Lance are hard as nails.

You could try another class, or go on line. You might find the game gets more interesting. ESPECIALLY playing with folks who are the same level and doing similiar missions as your character, that's always fun because the game gets MUCH more frantic and fun.

RAL, Go online and play with

RAL,

Go online and play with others...the sims get even harder in group play.  I also suggest getting the 1st DLC to play.  You'll find a few new weapons, but loads of missions....I agree with Salen, you may want to start a new character, for the DLC, as Lvl 50 may be too strong for those sleepless zombies and frankensteins.

Thank you!

Great advice and insight from you both, just what I was looking for.

One additional question about group play.  My personal situation is such that I can get online at odd hours but oftentimes I get interrupted and have to quit suddenly (to take care of something that cannot be ignored).  That was a serious problem in, for example, WOW, since we'd get started on an instance and I had to quit.  I HATE when someone does that to me and I hated it everytime I did it to someone else.  So I stopped playing in groups.

Is this as big of a problem in Borderlands, or do people drop in and out of pugs all the time and it's not very disruptive.

And thanks again for the info and advice

When you leave the difficulty

When you leave the difficulty also goes down so it's not a problem for you to drop out.

The only problem I have is when people join my game, loot, then leave.

That won't be a problem

I'm not a hot dog and I don't loot like one.  I forgot about the reduction in difficulty which would at least make an abrupt departure less of a problem, though prolly still an annoyance.  Thanks.

Few Questions

I'm safe to assume that the difficulty goes up in Splitscreen also right?

And does that also mean that the Orange drop rate will be higher if I just have my Siren sit back while I get some chests at the Crimson Fastness and Enclave?

And one more question, lol sorry; The best mod to wear as a hunter while farming I'm assuming is the Scavanger mod right, or would it be better if I farmed with my Siren?

Using your Hunter with a Scavanger Mod would be the best for you if you are planning to just farm enemies, just make sure you respec your talent points though. I use my Siren for New Haven farming just for the simple fact that she can move faster then my other guys.

I do not make or use modded weapons, what you see me post is all legit. Hope you all enjoy :) Lvl 50 Siren/Hunter/Soldier/Brick
