It's not often I see any upside to living in Plano, Texas but this is one of those rare days. Plano-based Gearbox wants gamers to be a part of a focus group. It's unclear if its for Borderlands. They'll only say "It is for a Gearbox title that's in development."

Below is some more on what its like to be a video game test subject from the Gearbox forums. On schwag:

Well, we provide snacks and drinks for the testing process, and what we give out kind of varies - I know we have some shirts, hats, and other Gearbox stuff lying around. There are tons of different things we give out depending on what we've got.

And on the process:

Sessions are scheduled for a particular time, and everyone in that group must show up when scheduled. There are usually about 6 people at a time or so. You come in, get some snacks, fill out some information about yourself and sign your NDA, and are then set to play the game for approximately an hour. During that time, Gearbox personnel observe the play session and take notes. After the gaming session, participants fill out a questionnaire regarding their experience and are allowed to make comments.

It's times like these that make me sad to be an Australian. I feel like making some kind of intelligent comment, but i'm too tired. Goodnight.

A plane ticket from Australia

A plane ticket from Australia to Plano, Texas can't cost too much, can it? :)

Lol.

Too much for me, though. And I don't think my mum, or my school would appreciate it if I bought a plane ticket to Texas to go and play a game for an hour. I could just imagine the conversation...

"Mum, do you think you could drive me to the airport?"

"The airport? Why would you want to go to the airport?"

"Well, I just spent all my money on a ticket to Plano, Texas. See, the developers of this game that's coming out next year are doing playtesting, and I want to go and do it."

"That's it. The Playstation is going. For good."

"Oh, damn."

Anybody playtest Borderlands?

Did anybody who checks out this site do this? Maybe give us some hints about the game? :)

They were made to sign a non-disclosure agreement, so the most they would be able to tell us is "It was fun." or something along those lines.
