PUGS are useless and Boring..Thx Modded weapons!

PUGS=Pick-up-Groups, not them little Dogs (though I guess they can apply too)
Ya know, my friends aren't on every time I am. Understandable. But sometimes, I wanna run some Multiplayer, even when my pals aren't around. But this is no longer an option. This Modded/Hacked Gun crap has got to stop. When I jump in the game, its commonly 2-3 kids dropping, comparing, and talking about these broken things. No gameplay to be found.
Then there are the people who do play, but use these broken guns to make the game either to boring to play (Everything dies in one shot...whoopdy-doo?) or impossible to play (Your modded Gun lags stuff out? Greeeaaaat...) And of course PvP....
So I ask...whats the point? I run all Legit weapons (I ain't got my inventory hacked 700 spaces, I ain't over a million shield, etc.) and I don't get the point of these hacks. The FUN of the game (to me) is collecting and comparing guns. These mods make that pointless. Fights are not challenging, therefore not fun. And PvP....is there no Honor? Fighting dirty is fine, but CHEATING is a different matter.
It's been weeks jumping in and out of PUGS, and these 2 variations are the most common! The rare is finding another legit player or even a player that has modded gear, but agrees not to use it. Is there any chance of a patch? I still love playing the game, but these Modders have made it to where Im either going solo, or gotta wait for all my friends schedules to click into place.
P.S. I've tried hosting my own games, but all I normally get is an influx of Modders that I kick. Again, the rarity of legit players is ASTOUNDING! Thoughts? Comments? Solutions? Can we just hunt them all down?

How do I know I'm wrong? Well, someone wanted to play some Borderlands today with me. So far so good but I had to do things, so yeah, I get back and lo' and behold the person is online. So, I'm like HEY, I'll join the game, or at least his party because I can...
And what is the person and two of his friends talking about?
Modded Shields and Equipment the person has to get rid of because it lags the game so hard because of the stats built into the equipment.
I'm wrong, people mod stuff on Borderlands XBL, and it figures I'd learn this only a few hours after I posted my above post.

Yeah i know what you mean i buy the underdome and im all excited to get some massive kills and i host a game and what do i get?
3 ppl join and just start comparing mod guns not even shooting anything just shooting rockets in the sky and watching them fall then showing off modded shields which then somehow MY shoeldc gets modded and it takes me an hour the next night to fix its fuckin bullshit im tired of this i just wanna legit game without trying to always coordnate with my buddys who also have lives

I played around with modded weapons for about 4-days then i realized i hadn't payed $dollars for this!
So i ran to a cliff, told all the noobs to watch and it was fun as hell! I just dropped all my modded weapon off the cliff. (one jumped after a gun)
Point is-Games aren't meant to be modded, especially wen u have the possibilities like borderlands.

Good to know theres purists out there
I've only been playing Borderlands online for about a week, and have not played in a single group that didn't have modders. What grinds my gears the most about it is that they ruined my favorite boss encounter. Ever since day one, I wanted to 4-man the Rakk Hive, and the one time I do it, some guy pulls out a machine shotgun that fires bombs at about 40 rounds per minute. Then runs down, grabs the loot, and exits the game.
That being said, I don't use modded anything, all my gear I've found and earned. If anyone wants to get up with me on XBL for a challenge in the Underdome, Gamertag is Tenacious Big E.

I need to find some legit
I need to find some legit gamers on PSN. I have limited time to actually play online (no internet at my apartment). All I wanted for Christmas was to play some Borderlands while I actually have internet access. But lo and behold, every game I've joined consisted of at least one modder. Sweet. Is there a way that they can patch the game to keep this outbreak under control?

i have a couple of modded weapons but only use them for a laugh and play the game for real and wont ever bring them out if anyone asks me not to
this is how you should act with modded guns not like almost everyone else does
This is probably one of the few reasons I'm glad to be playing on the 360. Because if someone's modding on the 360, well, that's actually a case for where XBL can kick the user's account a little or a lot.
You could try looking for some legit gamers in the Multiplayer section, to fill in your friend spots, but that's just the best I can offer in this situation.
