Regarding the New Update (Modder Blocker)
As for no more modded weapons, in a way I'm glad about it so those stupid malicious modders can't reach pure online players, but does this means it will also kill those that mod offline? Because I believe the updates are installed in the hard drive, not in the firmware. Which means that theoratically speaking, on the XBOX360, it may be possible to evade the blocker by using an outdated hard drive for modding. Bad part, no updates, no online play. But that could be just a theory.
I have a couple lvl 50 modded char, they were not deleted, no new DLC yet but I did get the update. I didn't do anything outlandish, 54 slots, lvl 50 weapon prof, ect ect. It reverted the inventory slots to 48 on one char, other one did not change.
Any modded weapons that were over the top were simply removed from game I suppose. I did have some that I modded that I still have in my inventory. Those are ones I either added a scope, swapped scopes or something to that effect.
Cool. That's what I started out doing, and of course I started tinkering a little more to add damage, etc. for my own use (not online). Hopefully I can still mess around with the guns a bit within the game's perameters. Guess it'll just be a try it and see approach.
I know you can't play the game online without the update, but what about downloading the new DLC without the update? Would you then still be able to play the DLC and regular games offline without the update?
To answer my own questions, you cannot play the new DLC without the update. The update does not remove modded character stats (i.e. weapon proficiencies, extra backpack space or skill trees). All the modded weapons I had are gone of course, but there are at least two that I found offline that disappeared as well, both very high powered revolvers that had to have been legit since they came out of a chest. Either way, I'm going to mess around with it a little bit and see if any subtle modifications are still passable.
Has anyone tried to mod a weapons level, maybe just change the mag or stock to see if you can use it?
I tried changing the body on a Combusion Hellfire to an ammo regen Tediore Defender smg body, and that didn't work. Possibly because it was cross-branding? Not sure. It was the only one I tried because I wanted to get started playing the game.
Awesome. If you have 2 hard drives, modding block won't be an issue. It is possible to keep a legit character with the latest add-ons and updates in one hard drive and have the modded character in another hard drive (like I did). The update will only affect the same hard drive it was installed on. The only thing is that you won't be able to use your modded character online or with the latest updates (which is fine by me, I mod offline). Modding can still somehow go on.
Items can still be modded, just nothing to outragous. I raised the level on some of my brother's weapons and added a scope to another, they are still available in game. However I swapped some legit weapons for him to use while I did that and they all got erased. Not sure what is up with that yet, will take some more tinkering / investigation for that. Personally I think it was User Error.
Do you need two XBox 360 hard drives? I have a normal 250 gb USB hard drive sitting around somewhere, would that work? In any case, what parts of the hard drive would need to be copied over to the secondary one?
The hard drive needs to be an XBOX 360 hard drive. USB hard drives won't work because the XBOX won't search for the savefile on the USB drives. (MAKE A BACK UP EVERYTIME YOU WANT TO CHANGE OR OVERWRITE) If you have an XBOX 360 hard drive and you want to copy all that is in the primary hard drive to the secondary, you should copy and overwrite the whole Partition 3 of the primary to the secondary (COPY THE PARTITION 3 OF THE SECONDARY ON THE COMPUTER FIRST, JUST IN CASE). If you want to just move the savefile from a hard drive to another, go to Partition 3 / Content / (the folders in the Content folder are named with numbers and letters, they're the account, if you have only one account, is the only folder showing) / 545407E7 / (this folder contains your Borderlands gamesaves, you can either copy the folders or open them to search a specific savefile). Always keep back ups just in case something goes wrong.

If all modded items and guns go away, what about modded characters? I.e. a lvl 50 with a full 106 skill point allocation, all 50 weapons proficiencies, etc. Will that just get deleted?
