wth, when I read this preview I got smacked in the face.

http://www.gamer.nl/doc/54028/Borderlands-hands-on

it's in Dutch, so google translator is a good thing

some higlights:

In Borderlands zijn bovengenoemde elementen, toch twee zeer essentiële elementen voor beide genres, gesneuveld ten bate van het geheel.

which means kinda that the above named elements ( rpg and shooter elements) are essential for the genres, but they were destroyed by the end of the game.

this means in short that the open world is fake, it is prohibited by invisible walls and canyons. after the word Pandora (the planet) it says that the world exists out of many large location which are unaturaly connected by terminals. instead of walking inside a cave and coming into another place on the other end, you begin with pushing a button and a loading screen follows taking you to the next location.

somewhere it also says that the characters don't do much are way too scripted and stuff. and the world just spawns enemies to keep you busy.

strangely there are also quite some positive things in this preview like about the shooting and looting.

this scared me a little, but because of all the other good previews I read it doesn't affect me thinking three times till buying the game.

o well...

this is like the only preview out of the many previews out there that is actually negative (aside from the kotaku preview).

But yea like you said there are more sites that i have seen with positive previews :) Oct 20th still can't come soon enough!!

yes,

my friend saw only this of this game, therefore he isn't going to buy it (he never buys anything though so it wouldn's be only because of this)

I just hope we don't get the expierence they got

Huh?

What i don't get is how do they (the people how wrote that preview) know this information? If what they say is in fact true then wouldn't you think one of us on this site would have picked up on it? I don't think its true, its just speculation...i hope!! :S

Well the tunnels and terminals are more than likey some of the doglegs in the game. So I wouldn't fret to much about that part.

I guess thats gonna be a

I guess thats gonna be a suprise, however I do see progress in such games,

in fallout you had more opening doors ( so not connecting zones) than in oblivion, where every door had a loading screen. borderlands I don't see many doors though, so no need for interior zones

I hope!

I really hope it wont be too similar to fable 2! Even though fable 2 was 'open world' it seemed a little constricted by all the small areas connected together by loading screen to make a large world...any ideas about that?

Bullshit, it's still

Bullshit, it's still technically open world. Yeah there are small loading times but it is with good reason: the areas are instanced which means each and every territory you go to is procedurely generated just like the guns.
