SMGs
Anyone else feel like SMGs arent getting any love? They're the only weapon in the game no one has skills to specialize in it. Might as well not even be there. I figured if anyone Lilith should have a skill or two to specialize in them, just seems like they fit her with the whole covert-ops stealth feel she has. Close the distance on the enemy and unload a magazine before they know what happened.
or accuracy or reload speed, mord has pistols and sniper rifles, roland has assault rifles and shotguns, and brick has explosives.
lilith has every elemental weapon? (although it's just 20% more chance)
i don't realy care... i prefere a good sniper or a nice rifle but your right maybe lillith should have a smg tree
or somebody. I just find it kind of odd that every other weapon type someone has a way to specialize in those weapons, SMGs are just left out as the red-headed stepchild of weapons in the game.
Lilith was supposed to be the SMG-toting, CQB specialist. Maybe they had too many skill ideas for her tree and had to cut out SMGs to balance her out.
Still, you can build any of the characters to gain bonuses for any gun in general, thus not specializing them in the use of any particular gun type. That means any one of them can pick up an SMG and it'd be on the same level as a Combat Rifle for Roland or Sniper Rifle for Mordecai.
I'm pretty open to building my toons that way, and won't mind picking up an SMG for any of them. Most of my favorite real world guns are SMGs, each with a history of bloody effectiveness to back them up.
one thing that has been naging me for the past few days is that borderlands dosent seem to have any SMG's that dont have a bullpup design now dont get me wrong i love bullpup but it's like candy and pie there awsome but you need other foods too.
SMG's benefit just fine from the Siren skill tree. You have a number of abilities that passively increase fire rate, damage, bullet velocity, critical hit of ALL WEAPONS...LOL what else do you want? If you are looking for increases to SMG damage you will find them from mid to end game class mods (ie. mercenary typically adds a % to SMG damage).
well anyone can specialize in it by getting their proficency level to 50
for doing that i would suggest getting your hands on a cobalt tsunami
After playing both Roland and Lilith, I think Lilith is probably a better SMG user as far as raw potential damage through both criticals and environmental effects but Roland can use on indefinitely due to his ammo regeneration class mods. Hopefully the Siren for Borderlands 2 has an SMG tree, or at least skills that directly influence their usage of SMGs.

what do you mean specialise in smg skills? like more dmg?
