Today I want to talk about people climbing Everest. If you like the Borderlands setting, I think you'll enjoy this setting as well. At the top of Everest it's a bit like Pandora. It's barren, desolate and dangerous. If you're in trouble, there's nobody that will come to help you.

That's part of what makes the stories I've read and watched about attempts on Everest so gripping. Although the mountain technically isn't one of the most difficult to mount, extreme weather can turn it into a human death trap. And if something goes wrong, the climbers are all alone.

If you're curious about Everest, there's two pieces of media I can recommend. One is Into Thin Air, one of my favorite books of all time. The book came about because an accomplished mountain climber and talented writer by the name of Jon Krakauer was sent by a magazine to write about climbing Everest.

Turns out, Mr. Krakauer attempts the climb in what becomes what the deadliest seasons ever on the mountain. It's a few hundred pages of excellent writing on man and woman versus the elements.

The other bit of media I can recommend is the Discovery series Everest: Beyond The Limit, (I've only seen the first season so that's all I can vouch for at this point). I never thought I would be recommending a reality television series (I'm not really a Jersey Shore guy) but I was pleasantly surprised by this series.

The show follows a group of climbers and their professional guides as they try to mount Everest. I assumed the series would lack drama because the TV producers would be sure to keep these people out of harm's way. I was wrong. It's not the same level of tragedy that occurs in Into Thin Air, but there's enough to make you realize just how dangerous climbing Everest can be.

Has anybody else checked these out before and think of them as highly as me?

It says there that the Federal Bureau of Investigation is cautioning against a growing number of cases of home loan fraud, mostly from fraudulent loan applications. The Federal bureau of investigation is also warning troubled homeowners to be especially vigilant. They're becoming more vulnerable to refinancing and foreclosure prevention schemes.
