Hello borderlands comrades ! I just recently switched from the pc version into my PS3. Loving the game but dont know alot of people that play borderlands besides myself and a friend that is hardly ever online. If you want to join up and play add me : mujica39
Current lvl 41 and leveling fast. Also have all current DLCs.
Hello Pinguin...I wanted to point out to you that you cannot blame the software for your hardware failure. The older model PS3s (Particularly the launch 60 gigs) have been coming in for repair quite a bit with two known failure issues:
A) YLOD - (Yellow light of death) - Most likely the graphic processor needs to be reflowed because overheating and degradation of the thermal paste. There are special tools utilized to to do this and I would not recommend you try to fix it at home.
B) Blu-ray laser failure - Can be easily repaired by a specialty store in your city.
These failures are common because the PS3 hardware is now coming into its own having been around for a while. The older systems have not been tested beyond a certain threshold and constant use can cause overheating and/or damage to some of the internal components.
Most of the time the power supply theory for the YLOD is almost always a big myth. I see this happen all the time, you are not alone. About 50 systems come in a week into my local store with mostly YLODs or blu-ray laser failure. And almost all these systems are over 2 years old. But this is not an issue with the game I assure you.
PREVENTATIVE MEASURES:
The best prevention is simple: take care of your system. Do not leave it on and use it for extended periods of time (Beyond 6 hours approximately)
Do not leave the game on pause for long periods of time either, as this wears on the mechanics of the laser assembly.
Keep your system in a cool, dry place and I would highly recommend that if you have never done so, take your system to your local repair shop that services PS3s to open her up and clean out the dust if its never been before, and your system is over two years old. I see old systems come in all the time with so much dust inside them no wonder they overheated.
With this kind of aging, it will not suffice just to vacuum out the vents. Over time, dust can get into areas and stick to components in the machine reducing its cooling ability many fold. Also if your system is older and has never been serviced, it couldn't hurt to get the thermal paste reapplied for better heat conduction as this can contribute to the issues.
k
dude hes talking about having a friend with to play with on borderlands ps3 how does what you all are saying go with this topic? why not make a new one?
.

The game is great, but it ruined my ps3 , borderlands crashed my ps3 and now, all of my datas ( 25 games ) are deleted.
But this is not all, here it comes : The ps cant read any discs anymore , nice , huh? and now i must pay around 150 euro to repair it ( the whole console costs 200 -.- ) . My 2 50 's + high end weapons, all away
Stay @ Pc , mate..
