For new school players, modding weapons is the new black.  But for old-school scruffs who like to get their hands dirty, “farming” weapons is still the way to build your inventory.

Here at the Borderlands Guide Lab, we've got a little gift for the latter group: the top five places for farming weapons in Borderlands.

1. New Haven:
  There’s no need to dispute that this land is fertile and the most common place to grab, go, and sell.  It's the least labor-intensive farmable region of the game.  Plus, it’s even in a “gated community.” Feel safe?  Heck yeah, partner!

2. Crimson Fastness:  Almost as reliable as New Haven, this area can leave you with plenty of extra loot.

3. Dahl Headland:  “Getting Lucky” is not how I feel about this desert wasteland.  Between the oil rigs, giant skag monster, and zippy dune buggies, I can almost feel the sand whipping against my face.  Bonus: you get to launch off ramps…that’s gotta count for something, right?

4. Treacher’s Landing:

Going through this long, weird shaped region to farm weapons is kind of strange.  You’re either constantly running in a circle or going in a reverse “R” shape to get stuff (no, really imagine it). But look on the bright side, what a view!

5. Old Haven:  Get your corrosive weapons lock and loaded for this area.  Farming here can cause respawns a couple times over.  The armored men sure know how to fortify this area that strangely looks like a favela.  Like Crimson Fastness, these duderinos drop valuable valuables.  Just remember to “handle with care” around the shielded townies.  And don't forget to look for repair kits here as extra slots do help you in your struggle.

So may your crop from farming be bountiful. And then we hope you share it with the rest of us on the Gunopedia.

One of my favs

6. Rust Commons West:  Yeah, it's kind of a huge location, and yes, there are spiderants EVERYWHERE. And yet, there are nine chests just waiting to be looted around the northern section of the area. Spawn at the Underpass, climb up to the little Rakk hangout, then pop over to visit Ms. Tannis, scoot over to the Badass-spawning shack next to the bridge, followed by the spiderant-infested tower area at the northern end of the map, and finish up with a quick rock-crawl down to the dev chest from whence few ever return. If you haven't yet figured out the way back up from this last one (I have), you can always save, respawn at the Underpass, and then sell your weapons before you start over.

How do you make it back up

How do you make it back up from that hidden chest? I've always just saved/exited/respawned.

You need to drive down in a runner and then drive very carefully back up. I'll see if I can post a video of it sometime.

@patrick

I know a much better way. you get down there, then crouch, walk into the corner to the left of the chest when your facing it from the front, and carefully walk into the little angled slope and let it slowly let you fall and hang towards the cliff. If done right you recieve no loss of money from doing so and you respawn at underpass.

That method is hit or miss, though. If you drive, you don't risk losing the money or dying.

 Just exit the game after opening the chest.  It will save and you can respawn right back in the rust commons when you reload to farm again.

YOU DON'T HAVE TO QUIT YOUR GAME. Drive down there and drive back up. It's a more efficient use of your time.
