Understanding Weapon Stats- Accuracy?
I'm trying to understand the numerical weapon stats posted here and other Borderland websites. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
Damage: Damage each hit (or pellet, for shotguns) inflicts. The higher the better.
Accuracy: How much chance this gun's shots will miss or hit. The lower the better?*
Rate of Fire (RoF) in Rounds Per Second: How fast this weapon fires rounds. The higher the better.
Maximum Magazine Capacity: The maximum number of rounds a gun fire before needing reloading. The high the better.
Reload Time in Seconds: How long it takes to put in new rounds into the gun. The lower the better.
* - Here's what gets me. I've been checking out the various gun stats, and the screenshots show that the lower numbers are often improvements in Accuracy and vice-versa. That means that the lower numbers are better. But why? What is the measurement based on? (perplexed)
in the gamestop video that was posted today i noticed something. Right when it shows the hands on part at 48 seconds it shows a smg gun stats compared to his pistol. It says his pistols accuracy (92.4) is better than the accuracy of the smg (66.0). They might of switched the accuracy so now the closer to 100 the better.

i know this video has been posted im just trying to show you.
old guns the accuracy was closest to 0 now accuracy close to a hundred the better
sniper probably best and shot guns worse
lol i know, i was one of the first people to notice (I think) but then soon after everyone else figured it out. Thankyou for helping though.
I was wondering if someone could clear up a question i have about shotgun accuracy. In general, is it fair to say that the more accurate the shotgun, the smaller the spread? For example, if you had a shotgun with 85 accuracy, could you expect more shotgun pellets to hit, as in have a smaller spread, where as with a lower accuracy shotgun, say 20, can you expect a wider spread?
So would a shotgun with lower accuracy thus be more useful in a close combat battle with many enemies clustered in groups?
That's exactly the way Shotguns work.
The lower the Accuracy on a shotgun the farther the single pellets will fall apart. Anyway, since Shotguns even with a high accuracy (I'm talking of 70+%) have a quite large field of effect I definitely prefer the high-accuracy-shotguns 'cause they won't let me down if the enemy is more then 10m away.

probably the width of the crosshair or something
Despite the cost of living, have you noticed how it remains so popular?
