First of all let me say hello the the whole community!

I have been lurking for a while now and thought it would be a good time to join up and start posting :)

I have been having a scan around for any scrap of info on Borderlands I can find and managed to come up with statements relating to Borderlands being moved from Take-Two's 2008 fiscal release to an undefined 2009 fiscal window. This was hardly breaking news but until I found a link to Take-Two's Corporate News section, from here I found a detailed report of the next financial report which is due to be discussed on a (seemingly public) conference call tomorrow!?

Now I can only speculate, but, this call could well hold information as to the release date of the game. The source of this info can be seen at the following URL:

ir.take2games.com/releasedetail.cfm

If this turns out to be nothing I apologise in advance :P but if there is anyone in the community located in the U.S. it would be coll to find out what they have to say ;)

Well, thanks for reading and a big thanks BG and everyone contributing to the borderlandsguide.com!

Ta,

GM.

It's unlikely you'll get

It's unlikely you'll get release date info in a comerical confrence call for 2K, they just have too much other stuff to talk about... and even if you did, it'd be illegal to publish it.

Interesting though...

Welcome GM

Welcome to the site. The Borderlands news front has been quiet lately so any morsel for us to speculate to bits with our info-deprived minds is always welcome.

Take 2 has mentioned Borderlands in previous conference calls, although only to say the game is coming out this fiscal year. Maybe since the game is getting closer to release they'll want to talk about it a little more.

Hopefully Seeking Alpha will post the transcripts again. Nice find.

Bioshock 2 will probably come

Bioshock 2 will probably come out at the very end of the fiscal year, near a school vacation or something like that, if not Hallow's Eve. It's not the best idea to put two products with high expected revenue out at the same time, as they would detract from each other's profits. It's probably best to give people time to grab another paycheck or two.

At least they have the same pub

Good thing that Borderlands and Bioshock 2 don't have different publishers.Like L3vi pointed out, Take-Two has an incentive to spread them out so they each get maximum sales.

As excited as I am about Borderlands, it could get ignored if released on the same day as Bioshock 2. Both look like great games, but Bioshock 2 has one huge head start: it has a really popular predecessor.

Well, there certainly still

Well, there certainly still no guarentees that other publishers won't put serious competition into the mix...  But I have to agree at very least that it would be hard for boarderlands to compete with Bio2, if only due to the fact that they are somewhat similar in genre.  Honestly though, I don't see huge sales for BL on release day.  It's the kind of game that sits for a few months with moderate sales as word of mouth percalates, and then never really stops completely.

It's a game like diablo or fallout 3, it's still going to be a great game whenever you start playing, and there's still going to be lots of people who aren't bored of it yet.

Well I vividly remember when

Well I vividly remember when Fable 2 and Fallout 3 came out at the same time I was a little pissed to be sure.

But Im pretty sure we're safe as far as that happening with Bio2 and BL.  No company is going to do something like make their own games compete for sales.

Are they any other games people can think off that might be releasing from different publishers that might try to steal 2k's thunder as far as release dates go?

The next episode of

The next episode of Stalker... but I have no idea if it's last quarter 09 it's slated for.  I guess Diablo 3 too... on that one it could be a 2010 game though.

HL2 eps 3 is going to be either late 09 or 10 as well...  Oh, and there's RAGE from the doom guys, couldn't date it though.

Full market for sure.  Did

Full market for sure.

Did anyone see the new cover of GI with Bioshock 2 on it?

It had a sort of revamped big daddy, with what it said was a BIG sister. Hmmmmmm.
