The Waiting Game
Looking forward to a game release is a lot like flying. You know you're going get stuck with delays and the waiting is a pain but there's nothing you can do about it.
Borderlands was originally slated for a holiday 2008 release. Then it got pushed to 2009. Now, there's talk that the game might not even hit stores until 2010.
Says a guy at thegamereviews.com who played an early build of Borderlands this month at E3:
Borderlands still has a ways to go development-wise; who knows if it will even make its 2009 window...
I can't say this surprises me. Since Borderlands is a hybrid of FPS's and RPG's, Gearbox essentialy must develop an entirely new style of gameplay. There's nothing to copy.
Besides, I'm all for getting it done right, instead of getting it done quickly. I would rather play a game a couple months later than get it early but buggy as a swamp during mosquito season.

Announced release dates are to game developers as women in bikinis are to Elton John. Completely ignored.
